The CVT485 Converter is a handheld device typically used to convert signals between RS485/SAE J1708 (two-wire operation balanced half-duplex) and RS232 (two-channel). An external +12V power supply is required to connect the two power-supply pins on the device by a RS485 cable. The CVT485 Converter has a DB-9 female RS-232C connector and a DB-9 male/female connector on the RS485/SAE J1708 bus side. The DB-9 male-connector and its cable on the RS485 side is the most popular choice.
